Introduction
fluidinamide (flonicamid) is a pyridine amide (or nicotinamide) insecticide discovered by Ishihara Industrial Co., Ltd. in Japan. It can effectively control pricking and sucking mouthpart pests on a wide range of crops and is especially effective against aphids. Its mechanism of action is novel, it has no cross resistance with other insecticides currently on the market, and has low toxicity to bees. A number of companies have participated in the development, including Fumishi in the United States, Hanong Co., Ltd. in Eastern Korea, and United Phosphide in India.
mechanism of action
The agent works by hindering the sucking effect of pests. The pest quickly stops sucking after ingesting the medicine, and finally dies of hunger. According to the analysis of electronic insect sucking behavior (EMIF), this agent can make the mouth needle tissue of sucking pests such as aphids unable to be inserted into plant tissues and become effective.
